Abstract
[cat] El present treball pretén fer una aproximació a l’estudi dels vestigis materials de l’antiga xarxa de telègraf òptic militar que hi va haver a Catalunya entre 1847 i 1862. La telegrafia òptica fou un primerenc sistema de comunicació visual desplegat durant la consolidació de l’estat liberal-burgès a Espanya, que permetia transmetre missatges amb rapidesa mitjançant senyals a distància. A Catalunya es va optar per instal·lar una xarxa pròpia d’ús militar, que pretenia enfortir el control estatal sobre el territori i coordinar el desplegament militar efectuat en motiu de les guerres carlines. L’estudi es centra en les diferents torres i estacions telegràfiques fortificades que formaven part del tram de la xarxa que unia Manresa i Solsona, analitzant-ne les seves característiques, el
funcionament, la interacció amb el territori, etc., partint del diàleg entre fonts arqueològiques i documentals.
[eng] The present work aims to make an approximation to the study of the material vestiges of the old military optical telegraph network that existed in Catalonia between 1847 and 1862. The optical telegraphy was an early visual communication system deployed during the consolidation of the liberal-bourgeois state in Spain, which allowed messages to be transmitted rapidly through remote signals. A special network of military use was installed in Catalonia, which sought to strengthen state control over the territory and to coordinate the military deployment carried out during the course of the Carlist Wars. This paper focuses on the different towers and fortified telegraph stations that were part of the section of the network linking Manresa and Solsona, analysing their characteristics, functionality, interaction with the territory, etc., working on the principle of dialogue between archaeological and documentary sources.
