[cat] El presente trabajo presenta un análisis crítico en torno a la discriminación que sufre la
población migrante y la problemática que implica en el ámbito de la salud mental. El objetivo
del estudio es hacer una llamada a la transformación social a partir del reconocimiento y la
evidencia de la discriminación hacia la población migrante para promover el cambio hacia una
comunidad que fomente la igualdad, los derechos humanos y la salud a través del ejercicio de
la plena ciudadanía. Se hace especial énfasis en el papel sustancial que desarrollan los
servicios públicos y los profesionales en la promoción de la salud y el bienestar.
La metodología parte de una revisión bibliográfica que se contrasta con experiencias de
profesionales y testimonios de la ciudad de Barcelona a partir de entrevistas cualitativas. El
análisis de los resultados de la investigación corrobora la hipótesis y se concluye que la
discriminación estructural interfiere en la salud mental de la población migrante debido a la
vulneración de derechos y el trato excluyente recibido. La discriminación debería ser tratada
como un problema de salud pública y de justicia social.
[eng] This paper presents a critical analysis of the discrimination suffered by the migrant population and the problems it implies in the field of mental health. The aim of the study is to call for social transformation based on the recognition and evidence of discrimination against the migrant population in order to promote change towards a community that promotes equality, human rights and health through the exercise of full citizenship. Special emphasis is placed on the substantial role played by public services and professionals in the promotion of health and well-being. The methodology is based on a literature review that is contrasted with experiences of professionals and testimonies from the city of Barcelona through qualitative interviews. The analysis of the research results corroborates the hypothesis and concludes that structural discrimination interferes with the mental health of the migrant population due to the violation of rights and the exclusionary treatment received. Discrimination should be treated as a public health and social justice problem.
