La fundación del hospital de la Santa Creu de Barcelona: el manual Primero del notario Joan Torró

Abstract

Este trabajo aborda la fundación del Hospital de la Santa Creu de Barcelona. En él se explica el hospital medieval y su evolución, el panorama hospitalario barcelonés previo a la unión de 1401, las fusiones hospitalarias y los hospitales generales en la Europa tardomedieval, y, para poder entender los primeros años de esta nueva institución asistencial, se estudia el Manual Primero del notario Joan Torró (1401-1404). Las conclusiones de este trabajo permiten conocer el cambio que supuso la creación de este nuevo centro hospitalario y como fueron sus primeros años a través de la figura del notario y escribano mayor Joan Torró.

This paper presents the foundation of the Hospital de la Santa Creu of Barcelona. It explains the medieval hospital and its evolution, the Barcelona’s hospitals’ panorama before the 1401 union, the hospitals’ mergers and the general hospitals in the European Late Middle Ages, and, in order to understand the first years of this new assistance institution, it is studied the Manual Primer of the notary Joan Torró (1401-1404). The conclusions of this paper allow to know the change that supposed the creation of this new Hospital and how its first years were through the figure of the notary and escrivà major Joan Torró.
