Abstract
[eng] The following work is a typological and phonetic analysis of the consonant systems of some of the world's languages. The aim of the project is to reach meaningful final conclusions as to whether certain consonant sounds are more frequent than others and for what reasons these characteristics occur. Based on Maddieson (2013), it has been decided to work with what is known as “small consonant systems”: two groups of languages classified according to the number of consonant phonemes that they have. Subsequently, by means of this initial linguistic division, all the consonant phonemes of each language have been phonetically analyzed and significant results have been obtained. Statistically, similarities and differences between groups, languages and consonant phoneme types have been assessed and compared. Key words: typological and phonological analysis, small consonant systems, world languages, consonant phonemes, Maddieson.
