Història Econòmica de Valls (S.XIX)

Abstract

[cat] S'analitza l'evolució dels diferents sectors econòmics fent especial èmfasi en l'equilibri existent entre ells i les relacions laborals que el sustenten. Especialment rellevant és l'articulació de la funció comercial de la ciutat i el paper en el moment d'estructurar el territori. L'especialització vitivinícola i el seu posterior traspàs de capital cap a altres sectors productius, eminentment del sector tèxtil, esdevé una variable de primer ordre en el moment d'entendre la dinàmica econòmica del segle XIX de la ciutat de Valls (Tarragona). Els conflictes laborals, així com el paper dels gremis que es resisteixen a les modernitzacions del capitalisme industrial marquen també la dinàmica d'alguns sectors industrials, especialment el tèxtil i el del tractament de pells.

[eng] The evolution of the different economic sectors is analysed, with special emphasis on the balance between them and the labour relations that sustain them. Particularly relevant is the articulation of the commercial function of the city and its role in the structuring of the territory. The specialisation in wine production and the subsequent transfer of capital to other productive sectors, especially the textile sector, is a major variable in understanding the economic dynamics of the 19th century in the city of Valls (Tarragona). Labour conflicts, as well as the role of the guilds that resisted the modernisations of industrial capitalism, also marked the dynamics of some industrial sectors, especially the textile and leather processing sectors.
