Homology theory of cyclic group actions

Abstract

[eng] This thesis studies the homological and cohomological properties of topological spaces admitting cyclic group actions, focusing on the relationship between the Euler characteristic of $(X,A)$ and its invariant subcomplexes under the action of a finite cyclic group $G$, specifically pointing the case where $G=\mathbb{Z}_p$.

In order to get there, we first focus our attention to $(K,L)$, where $K$ is a regular $G$-complex and $L$ an invariant subcomplex. Then, we develop all the Čech theory necessary in order to generalize the relationship between the Euler characteristic to a more general pair $(X,A)$.

[cat] Aquesta tesi estudia les propietats homològiques i cohomològiques d’espais topològics que admeten accions de grups cíclics, tot centrant-se en la relació entre la característica d’Euler del parell $(X,A)$ i els seus subcomplexos invariants sota l’acció d’un grup cíclic finit $G$, i concretament especialment en el cas en què $G=\mathbb{Z}_p$.

Per tal d’arribar-hi, primer centrem la nostra atenció en $(K,L)$, on $K$ és un $G$-complex regular i $L$ és un subcomplex invariant. Tot seguit, desenvolupem tota la teoria de Čech necessària per generalitzar la relació de la característica d’Euler a un parell $(X,A)$ més general.
