dc.description.abstract	We study fractional charge in the one-dimensional and the two-dimensional cases. Firstly, we analyse the concept of kink and then we see how fermions in a kink background can carry fractional charge. Secondly, we study the so-called vortices and, as before, we study the coupling with fermions and different models to obtain the fractional charge.
