Resum
[eng] This text explores the affinity lesbians, and queer people in general, have towards the wilderness and undeveloped spaces through a variety of media including literature, visual art, and audiovisuals. The objective of this paper is to better understand the reasons for this interest and how homosexuality and the wilderness have become part of our contemporary zeitgeist in fiction. Using mostly North American examples from primarily the 19th to the 21st century, I approach the ways capitalism has harmed and helped this trend and to what extent its fictitious representation reflects reality. This research project serves more as an anthropological study than a criticism or analysis through which a certain theoretical framework is employed. The methodological focus is on making connections through the patterns found both in the past and present relating to LGBT living environments and the housing desires of lesbians with a sociological perspective. The emphasis is, therefore, on the political and social context of the time during which these trends were popular.
