[cat] El present treball es centra en l’estudi arqueològic de la fàbrica antiga de l’empresa Industrial Sedó SL, a la Riera de Gaià, al Tarragonès. Aquesta indústria està especialitzada en teixits gruixuts des dels seus inicis i roman activa fins avui dia. L’empresa s’inicia quan Pau Sedó Vivas comença a fer negoci amb la pagesia del poble perquè fabriquin teles de cànem i jute per cobrir mercaderies i fer-ne sacs de transport. En el moment en que el seu fill, Lluís Sedó Boronat, entra al negoci familiar, es construeixen unes naus industrials al mig del poble de la Riera que acabaran conformant tot un complex industrial que avui en dia està abandonat, el qual és l’objectiu de la nostra recerca arqueològica. A partir de l’anàlisi dels espais, la documentació bibliogràfica i la recerca arqueològica de la maquinària que encara es troba en algunes de les naus, hem pogut aproximar-nos a la contextualització arqueològica i històrica de la fàbrica antiga, i ens hem apropat al funcionament de les maquinàries d’aquest tipus d’indústria. L’estudi demostra que, tant la fàbrica com el poble, han tingut una evolució equitativa a nivell socioeconòmic que ha permès un desenvolupament en les dues vessants. Hem pogut veure la diferència entre una fàbrica tèxtil i una fàbrica de teixits gruixuts a partir de les diverses maquinàries i s’ha pogut demostrar, a través de tècniques de construcció i distribució d’espais, l’evolució de les naus industrials de l’interior de la fàbrica.
[eng] This dissertation focuses on the archaeological study of the old factory of Industrial Sedó SL enterprise, in la Riera de Gaià, Tarragonès. This industry has specialized in thick fabric since their beginning to our days. The origin of the enterprise is to be found when Pau Sedó Vivas began to negotiate with the village farmers to manufacture hemp and jute cloth for covering freight and for transportation sacks. When his son, Lluís Sedó Boronat, takes over the family business, he builds industrial units in the middle of the village. These will become an industrial complex, today abandoned, where our archaeological research takes place. Based on our space analysis, bibliographical documentation, and our archaeological machinery research, we have approached an archaeological and historical context of the old factory, thus introducing us to the operative of this type of industry. Evidence has been found that both the factory and the village have acquired an equitable socio-economical evolution, allowing their development on both sides. We have seen the difference between a regular textile industry and one devoted to thick fabric thanks to the remaining machinery. The building techniques and the space distribution has perfectly shown the evolution of the industrial complex.
