Resum
This video presents how the brain functions during adolescence, a period of active development, and how this explains many behaviors such as mood swings, impulsivity, or preference for friendships. Martina (adolescent), Núria Ramos (Cooperativa Ranura), and Esther Luna (project coordinator, UB) explain that the prefrontal cortex, responsible for decision-making and organization, matures slowly until around 22-25 years of age. Additionally, adolescents have a higher sensitivity to pleasure and find it difficult to delay rewards, which can promote risky behaviors. The goal is to understand these changes to help establish a more positive and empathetic relationship with adolescents.
