Abstract
[ENG] In this article, after identifying the basic objectives of statutory reform in languages, the general characteristics of Constitutional Court in Constitutional Court Ruling 31/2010 and its effects on the statutory linguistic regime are examined. The specific target of critical analysis will be the arguments and interpretative declarations formulated by the Court in relation to the statutory principles of Catalonia's own language and official status and the sectorial linguistic prescriptions that cover the rights and principles related to institutions and public bodies, as well as their staff's ability to use official languages, education and the socioeconomic sphere. The final reflections will include a transversal reading of the ruling, within the necessary context in which it is inscribed, from the perspective of Catalonia's linguistic selfgovernance.
