Producció i coarticulació de vocals i consonants del català en el decurs

Abstract

[cat] En aquesta tesi s'estudien les estratègies que fan servir els catalanoparlants en el procés de producció de vocals i consonants del català en contacte a partir de dades sobre l'estructura acústica de sons. En primer lloc, s'investiga l'existència de característiques acústiques invariants per a unes i altres independentment del context. En segon lloc, s'estudia el grau de variació acústica promogut per vocals i consonants en combinació i,. més en concret, la naturalesa dels efectes coarticulatoris que tenen lloc entre ambdues categories de sons. Tres punts de medició de l'espectre acústic han estat seleccionats per a l'anàlisi d'aquestes qüestions: el període quasi-estable de la vocal, el període- quasi-estable de la consonant i el període de les transicions vocàliques. L'objectiu últim del treball és contribuir a esclarir quins són els mecanismes invariants que fan servir els catalanoparlants en el procés de producció fonètica de fonemes en la cadena parlada. Les dades sistemàtiques sobre producció de vocals i consonants del català en contextos diversos i segons parlants diferents reportades en aquesta tesi poden servir per a treballs posteriors d'anàlisi fonètica.

[eng] This dissertation is an acoustical study of the mechanisms used by Catalan speakers during the production of vowels and consonants in running speech. First I investigate whether the acoustical manifestation of speech sounds allows detecting invariant characteristics for different vowels and consonants independent of the phonetic context. Second, the degree of contextual variability for vowels and consonants is determined as well as, more specifically, the nature of the coarticulatory effects that take place among the two phonetic categories. In all instances measurements have been taken at the quasi-steady-state period of the vowels and the consonants, and at the period of the vowel transitions. The main purpose of this research is to determine what are the invariant mechanisms used by speakers of Catalan in the process of production of phonemes in running speech. Moreover, the study reports production data on Catalan vowels and consonants in different contextual conditions and from different speakers that will be useful in further works on phonetic analysis of Catalan.
