Análisis social del urbanismo de la ciudad de Nara, Japón (siglo VIII)

Abstract

[spa] El objetivo de este trabajo es hacer un breve análisis de la sociedad de la capital de Japón del siglo VIII a partir del urbanismo. Las características que hacen de la ciudad de Nara un objeto de estudio interesante son su construcción ex novo, el hecho de ser la capital del Estado durante casi un siglo, la influencia del budismo recientemente llegado al archipiélago, y el hecho que el siglo VIII fue un periodo a caballo entre la creación y la consolidación del Estado japonés. A través de la recopilación y análisis de bibliografía, fuentes escritas y arqueológicas y cartografía urbanística, este trabajo pretende hacer un análisis del funcionamiento de esta sociedad urbana, su complejidad y su papel como parte de este nuevo Estado que pretendía asemejarse a la China Tang.

[eng] The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief analysis of the society of Japan’s capital in the 8th century through the lens of urban planning. The characteristics that make the city of Nara an interesting subject of study include its ex novo construction, its status as the state capital for nearly a century, the influence of recently introduced Buddhism to the archipelago, and the fact that the 8th century was a period between the creation and consolidation of the Japanese state. Through the collection and analysis of bibliographies, written and archaeological sources, and urban cartography, this paper intends to analyse the functioning of this urban society, its complexity, and its role as part of this new state that sought to resemble Tang China.
