Els renoms de Sant Pere de Ribes: perspectiva històrica, social i lingüística

Abstract

[cat] Aquest treball pretén ser un estudi dels renoms de Sant Pere de Ribes, especialment els noms de casa tradicionals i, en menor mesura, també els motius moderns. Des del punt de vista sociolingüístic, els renoms estan vinculats al lloc on s’han originat i tenen sentit; per això s’han estudiat els que indiquen oficis. També s’ha analitzat com la agent de Sant Pere de Ribes usa els renoms. Des del punt de vista lingüístic, l’estudi s’ha centrat en els aspectes fonètics, morfològics i en les estructures sintagmàtiques dels renoms. S’han analitzat els fenòmens que els han afectat, que són l’oralitat i la diacronia. Molts renoms han perdut el seu referent i la gent ja no sap què significaven originàriament. S’ha arribat a la conclusió que els motius moderns no esdevindran noms de casa, però se’n continuaran creant de nous perquè faciliten la individualització i són un element de cohesió social.

[eng] This research aims to study the nicknames used in Sant Pere de Ribes, especially the family home names traditionally used, and also, with less emphasis, the modern nicknames. From the sociolinguistic point of view, the nicknames are linked to the place where they originated and make sense. For that, those related to trades have been studied. It has also been analyzed how the people of Sant Pere de Ribes use the nicknames. From the linguistic point of view, the study concentrates on phonetics, morphology and syntactic structures of the nicknames. The phenomenona of orality and diachrony which have affected the nicknames have been studied. Many nicknames have lost their referent and the people don’t know what their original meaning was. The conclusion that has been arrived at is that the modern nicknames will never now become house names, but the people will continue to make up new ones because they facilitate individualization and are an element of social cohesion.
