La traducció a Catalunya (2016-2017)

[cat] A Catalunya la traducció té un paper molt rellevant en el món editorial, tant en l'edició en català com en l'edició en castellà. La traducció reflecteix també els fluxos culturals i l'estructura més o menys central d'una llengua. L'anglès és indiscutiblement la llengua font més important, i poques llengües europees acaparen la gran majoria de traduccions. En alguns casos, hi ha un biaix de gènere molt considerable en la traducció, com en el cas del japonès, amb el manga, o del suec, amb la novel·la criminal. La figura del traductor ha experimentat una visibilitat i una consideració creixents. A Catalunya hi ha, a més, una important activitat de recerca sobre la traducció, que es manifesta en publicacions especialitzades, reunions científiques i tesis doctorals. També es convoquen uns quants premis destacats, gairebé sempre centrats en la traducció literària.

[eng] Translation into both Catalan and Spanish is an important part of the book trade in Catalonia and it also reflects the changes in our cultural perception of languages and the central or peripheral positions we assign to them. Currently, English is clearly the most common source language for translations in this country and only a handful of other European languages share its popularity. In some cases, the translation of books of a certain genre has diminished and this has affected the language associated with that genre, as in the case of Japanese manga and Swedish crime fiction. Translators have become increasingly prominent and sought after. Finally, there has been an increase in research on translation, evidenced in specialist journals, scientific events and doctoral theses. A number of prizes are now also offered, generally in literary translation.
