Abstract
The third centenary of the fall of Barcelona in the War of the Spanish Succession was the context in which the Government of Catalonia has tried that the Catalan people could decide about their political future. Despite the negative of the State and the Spanish Constitutional Court suspending the regional decisions, the population of Catalonia was able to participate and express whether they wanted Cataloniato become a State and, if so, whether it should be independent. The referendum itself has not solved any problem, but has generated new questions that should be solved from future regional elections.
