[eng] The interest of the present work is to create the current status of research on the impact of tourism in Ibiza during the twentieth century. To this end, it undertakes a critical review of the specialized literature, organizing the contributions of different authors through a thematic approach that allows for an assessment of the evolution of historiographical interpretations. The study shows that research has become increasingly diverse over recent decades, expanding its focus from the earliest interpretations to issues such as urbanization, social mobility, cultural heritage, and the construction of Ibiza’s international image. The thesis concludes that tourism was the main driving force behind the island’s transformation throughout the twentieth century and that current historiography provides an increasingly complex and multidisciplinary understanding of this historical process, while also identifying new avenues for future research.
