[spa] El derecho a la participación en la infancia y la adolescencia está protegido por la Convención de
Derechos del Niño. Los entornos digitales son especialmente significativos en cuanto a la participación
del colectivo de jóvenes, la conocida como generación digital. En este estudio se han desarrollado
seis grupos de discusión con 65 chicos y chicas de entre 14 y 17 años para conocer qué canales
digitales utilizan normalmente, cómo participan en estos y a través de qué medios digitales pueden
ejercer la participación ciudadana en Barcelona. Las redes sociales son los canales más utilizados y
adquieren valor ya que permiten una participación no mediada por las personas adultas. No obstante,
hay un desconocimiento generalizado acerca de si existen canales digitales para la participación
ciudadana juvenil en la ciudad. Se está desaprovechando el gran potencial de la participación digital
para el ejercicio de la ciudadanía por parte de jóvenes y adolescentes.
[eng] The right to participate during childhood and adolescence is protected by the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Digital environments are especially significant regarding the participation of youngsters, who are known as the digital generation. In this study, six discussion groups have been developed with 65 boys and girls between 14 and 17 years old in order to know which digital channels they normally use; how they participate in them; and through which digital media they can exercise citizen participation in Barcelona. The favored channels are social media, highly valued because they allow participation not mediated by adults. However, there is a general lack of knowledge about whether there are digital channels for youth citizen participation in the municipality. Unfortunately, the great potential of digital participation as a means for the exercise of citizenship by young people and adolescents is being missed.
