De nou sobre Cornèlia, mare dels Gracs

Abstract

[cat] El present treball amplia les observacions que ja havíem apuntat en altres estudis sobre la figura de Cornèlia, que d'acord amb diferents fonts és recordada de forma positiva o de forma negativa. Per tal d'aclarir ambdues connotacions hem posat de relleu les fonts historiogràfiques, i en especial Plutarc, i les literàries, així com altres testimonis com ara els lapidis. A través de la figura de Cornèlia és possible veure, a més, com es varen constituir diversos tòpics com ara el rol de la matrona romana o de la influència materna en els governants i també reivindicar la rellevància del personatge com a dona cultivada.

[en] The present contribution is an extension of the comments already done in other studies about the personality of Cornelia which according to different sources is considered a positive or negative character. In order to clarify both considerations we have put emphasis in the historiographic sources - especially Plutarch - and the literary ones, but also we have taken into account other testimonies such as inscriptions. Through Cornelia it is possible to examine how some topics were constituted, such as the role of the Roman matrona or the influence of the mother over the governors. It is also possible to vindicate the relevance of Cornelia as an educated women.
