Abstract

In addition, an unknown percentage of individuals in the general population have liver fibrosis. Chronic inflammation of the liver, whatever its cause, is asymptomatic in the vast majority of cases, which means that the diagnosis of the disease is not made until very advanced stages of its natural history, when patients already have cirrhosis, a situation in which the disease is already irreversible. OBJECTIVE: To identify chronic liver diseases in early stages of their evolution, from Primary Health Care, using non-invasive serological or elastographic diagnostic tools.
