Abstract
El objetivo de este estudio es el análisis de intentar exponer la importancia que tenían las espadas para la sociedad guerrera escandinava de los siglos VIII a XI d. C.: los vikingos. La principal hipótesis que aquí se plantea es si la importancia que le daban a las armas era una cuestión religiosa y mística o por el contrario era una razón social y económica. Se intentará resolver a través del estudio de, primero, un breve repaso a las investigaciones sobre la cultura y la mitología escandinava y segundo, las interpretaciones sobre el arte y los análisis arqueometalúrgicos realizados en algunas de las espadas, así como un repaso a las inscripciones más comunes y las diferentes tumbas de época vikinga que contengan estas armas.
In this work an inventory and classification of all bronze and iron knives Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages were made. For this the available images will be digitized and made a good database with all available information. The formal characteristics as well as quantitative data (measures) of knife parts are processed by multivariate techniques, in order to create a typological classification proposal of the iron knives to Can Piteu-Can Roqueta. The remaining data will be analyzed to treat other important issues as the distribution of knives in the necropolis and territories studied, as well as its functionality, technology and chronology from their contexts of appearance.
