[cat] La finalitat del treball que es presenta a continuació és, d’una banda, conèixer quines foren les característiques pròpies i inherents al primer monacat femení a Occident a través de l’estudi de la Regula sanctarum uirginum; d’altra banda, s’ha pretès una aproximació al coneixement de les mentalitats d’aquestes dones, de quin era el seu lloc a la societat, de com actuaven i es relacionaven a dintre d’un entorn i un context social determinat, i de com la seva condició d’inferioritat clara va acabar determinant el seu paper a dintre de l’Església, acceptat com l’única possibilitat d’alliberament que les permetia el control de la seva sexualitat.
[eng] The aim of following paper is, on the one hand, to discover the main features of the first female monasticism in Western Europe through the study of the Regula sanctarum uirginum, on the other hand, it intends to analyze the women’s, mentalities, which was the place they had in society, how they acted and related within a particular environment and social context. Moreover, how their clear inferior condition ended up determining what her role within the Church would be, finally accepting it as the only possibility to free themselves, which allowed them to control their own sexuality.
