[spa] INTRODUCCIÓN: El melanoma cutáneo es el cáncer más agresivo de piel A pesar de que los nuevos tratamientos como la inmunoterapia o las terapias dirigidas a inhibidores de BRAF permiten aumentar la supervivència de los pacientes metastásicos, la resistencia intrínseca o adquirida de las células de melanoma a estos tratamientos y el desarrollo de metástasis son la mayor causa de muerte de estos pacientes. Por ello, es necesario profundizar en los mecanismos moleculares y celulares asociados a la malignidad del melanoma cutáneo. OBJETIVOS: El objetivo de este trabajo es el estudio de la expresión genes implicados en la proliferación celular como AURKA y de genes asociados a los procesos de invasión y metástasis / Transición Epitelio Mesénquima, como SPARC, PRRX1 y TWIST1, que contribuyen a la progresión tumoral del melanoma cutáneo, sus implicaciones pronosticas y el desarrollo de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas.
[eng] INTRODUCTION: Cutaneous melanoma is the most aggressive skin cancer due to its ability to invade and metastasize relative to its tumor size/volume. Tumors of only a few mm³ can produce metastasis and lead to the patient’s death. Despite new treatments such as immunotherapy or targeted therapies with BRAF inhibidors increasing survival in metastatic patients, the intrinsic or acquired resistance of melanoma cells to these treatments and the development of metastases remain the leading cause of death in these patients. Therefore, it is necessary to delve into the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with the malignancy of cutaneous melanoma. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this work is to study the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation, such as AURKA, and genes associated with invasion and metastasis processes / Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT), such as SPARC, PRRX1, and TWIST1, which contribute to the tumor progression of cutaneous melanoma, their prognostic implications, and the development of new therapeutic strategies.
