[esp] El yaoi es un género de manga que ha sido objeto de numerosos debates, críticas y
controversias debido a su premisa: erotismo y romanticismo homosexual dirigido a un
público femenino. En este Trabajo de Fin de Grado, nos sumergiremos en la historia y
evolución del yaoi, poniendo énfasis en los mecanismos y filtros con los que el yaoi ha
conseguido llegar a occidente y lo que ha logrado para la representación de historias
LGBTQIA+ dentro de la industria del manga y el anime, haciendo hincapié en su fuerte
presencia como manifestación cultural contracultural, punk, feminista y queer.
Dentro del contexto del yaoi, surgen muchas cuestiones y conceptos interesantes; ¿cómo se
hizo tan inmensamente popular? ¿Por qué? ¿Cuándo? ¿Cómo llegó a la escena occidental?
¿De dónde proceden sus numerosas críticas? ¿Es el yaoi homófobo? Aunque su objetivo
inicial fueran las mujeres heterosexuales, ¿Qué ha ocurrido? ¿Quién consume yaoi hoy en
día?
Para completar esta tesis, se va a realizar un proyecto artístico final para explicar y recopilar
todo lo aprendido en esta investigación desde un punto de vista didáctico y accesible,
recuperando las formas iniciales del yaoi; stands, fanzines, y mucho amor incondicional por
parte de sus fans de todo el mundo. Para lograrlo, se usará el metalenguaje para hablar del
mismo medio investigado y recuperado, creando distintos metayaoi.
[eng] The yaoi manga genre has been subjected to numerous debates, critiques and controversies due to its premise; homosexual eroticism and romanticism targeted to female manga consumers. In this thesis, we will dive into yaoi’s history and evolution, putting our focus in a western, local context to further support arguments in favor of yaoi and what has accomplished for the representation of LGBTQIA+ stories inside the manga and anime industry, putting emphasis on its strong presence as a contracultural, punk, feminist and queer cultural manifestation. Inside yaoi’s context, many issues and interesting concepts arise; how did it become so immensely popular? Why? When? How did it arrive to the western scene? From where has its numerous critiques come from? Is yaoi homophobic? Even if its initial target was straight women, what has happened? Who is consuming yaoi nowadays? To complete this thesis, a final artistic project is going to be made in order to explain and compile everything that has been learnt in this investigation from an educational and accessible point of view, recovering yaoi’s initial forms; stands, fanzines, and a lot of unconditional love from its fans around the world. To complete this thesis, an artistic project to explain and collect everything that has been learned through this investigation following an accessible point of view that recovers the ways in which yaoi has reached the west and at the same time, explains to the viewer what yaoi really is and means.
