[eng] This dissertation was completed in accordance with the doctoral requirements, the title of which is “al-Riḥla al-Fāsiyya al-mamzūja bi-l manāsik al-mālikiyya by Muḥammad al- Ṭayyib ibn Abī Bakr ibn Kirān (d. 1314/1896). A study and investigation”. This account is a pilgrimage travel undertaken by the author of the book in the year 1293 AH, during which he performed the Hajj according with the Maliki Madhab, as part of a delegation of the Alawi sultan, Hassan the First. The dissertation was motivated by the need to re-establish an academic investigation of this pilgrimage trip especially after I noticed a lack of comprehensiveness among those who had previously worked on this travel account. This has been done to help benefit from this account to the fullest, especially as it contained a variety of information at different levels. Having completed this study and investigation, I would like to refer to the most salient findings: - Although this manuscript was previously verified, it still needed to be re-verified due to the shortcomings and many mistakes that occurred in its predecessors. - The importance of pilgrimage travel accounts and the richness of their information. - The uniqueness of the Fassi journey over its peers from the pilgrimage trips with its rich jurisprudential material. - The author of the book frequently cites the sources of Maliki jurisprudence about rituals, which indicates his broad knowledge and mastery of the doctrine. - We can say that the author of the book was a follower of the Maliki Madhab. - The importance of verifying manuscripts because of the richness of information they contain for researchers and scholars. Finally, I recommend that old books, which have not been well-investigated, be reinvestigated to give their desired outcome, so that researchers can benefit from them properly, especially that there are those who profess the field of investigation for earning and commerce.
