Abstract

[cat] Amb aquest estudi es pretén demostrar el nivell d’importància cultural i social que els vaixells posseïen a les societats escandinaves, des dels seus orígens amb els primers pobladors de l’Escandinàvia fins a les grans embarcacions produïdes durant l’era víking. A partir de l’anàlisi arqueològic d’una sèrie de naus relacionades amb el món funerari dels segles IX-X s’ha determinat l’evolució en la producció naval d’aquestes poblacions i l’impacte material i simbòlic que les embarcacions presenten a la societat.
[eng] In this paper it is shown the cultural and social importance ships had in Scandinavian societies, from their origins with the first Scandinavian settlers to the large watercrafts produced during the Viking Age. It is stated with the archaeological analysis of a series of ships related to the burial world from the 9th-10th centuries that there was an evolution in the naval production of these populations and the material and symbolic impact that watercrafts display in the society.
