[cat] Aquesta tesi doctoral estudia l’obra assagística de Gabriel Ferrater, en concret els seus assaigs sobre literatura. L’objectiu de la tesi és exposar de quina manera es relacionen les idees de Gabriel Ferrater amb la literatura comparada, i endreçar i explicar els textos sobre literatura de Ferrater per demostrar que el conjunt forma una obra coherent construïda al llarg de trenta anys de producció intel·lectual. La tesi comença situant la figura de Ferrater com a intel·lectual del seu temps, emmarcant-la en un context teòric i fent un estat de la qüestió sobre la recerca al voltant dels seus assaigs. A continuació s’analitzen a nivell teòric les visions contemporànies i complementàries de Joan Ferraté i Jaime Gil de Biedma. El gruix de la tesi consisteix en l’anàlisi de l’obra de Ferrater sobre literatura catalana per tal d’exposar les seves tesis sobre crítica literària en aquesta disciplina. Així, s’analitza la posició del teòric davant la literatura catalana i es fa una proposta de cànon dels segles XIX i XX a partir dels seus textos. Per últim, s’estudien els seus assaigs sobre literatura estrangera, els seus informes de lectura per a editorials i la seva crítica pictòrica per veure de quina manera dialoguen amb els seus estudis sobre literatura.
[eng] This doctoral thesis studies Gabriel Ferrater’s essays, in particular his essays on literature. The aim of the thesis is to set out how Gabriel Ferrater's ideas relate to comparative literature, and to explain Ferrater's texts on literature. The thesis also aims to explain that Ferrater’s essays show a coherent work built over thirty years of intellectual production. The thesis begins by placing the figure of Ferrater as an intellectual of his time, framing it in a theoretical context and making a state of affairs about the research on his essays. The following is a theoretical analysis of the contemporary and complementary views of Joan Ferraté and Jaime Gil de Biedma. The bulk of the thesis consists of the analysis of Ferrater’s work on Catalan literature in order to present his ideas on literary criticism in this discipline. Thus, the position of the theorist in relation to Catalan literature is analyzed and a canon proposal of the 19th and 20th centuries is made based on his texts. Finally the thesis studies his essays on foreign literature, his reading reports for publishers and his pictorial critique to see how this texts dialogue with his studies of literature.
