[spa] La presente tesis doctoral, La narrativa breve de Miguel Unamuno: cuentística y pensamiento, pretende analizar en profundidad y dignificar los cuentos de este autor, género popularmente ensombrecido por sus grandes obras, tanto narrativas como líricas y ensayísticas. Por ello, nos hemos encargado de fijar el corpus de los cuentos completos de Unamuno, tarea aún no llevada a cabo con éxito por las escasas ediciones publicadas recientemente; a la par que hemos revisado el subgénero del cuento como tal y qué representaba este para Unamuno, ya que conocida es su aversión a cualquier taxonomía, ello nos ha llevado a reconocer como relatos textos que clásicamente no han sido tomados como tal. El análisis de los relatos, además de estético, lo hemos llevado a cabo contemplando el pensamiento unamuniano, marco de referencia extremadamente necesario en tal autor, sin él no hubiéramos podido llevar a cabo un comentario válido. De tal modo, nos hemos visto obligados a tratar la poética de don Miguel, guiados por sus grandes ensayos, así como por las pequeñas píldoras de ingenio que publicaba periódicamente en multitud de semanarios. Hemos podido concluir que el género breve no fue un simple entretenimiento para Unamuno, un empleo con el que mantener a su familia o una manera de hacerse omnipresente en la vida sociopolítica española e hispanoamericana, fue todo esto y más aún, fue un vehículo de sus inquietudes, preocupaciones, ideas y estética, a la par que contribuyó y complementó su estilo cada vez más fragmentario; se erigió en un excelente púlpito al que dirigirse a su lector, desde el que conseguir la inmortalidad intrahistórica, desde el que quebrar absolutamente todas las convencionalidades y decoros literarios.
[eng] The research we are presenting, The brief Narrative of Miguel de Unamuno: Tales and Philosophy, aims to analyse and dignify the tales of this author, because this genre has been popularly shaded by his main works, narrative, lyrical and essays. Therefore, we established the corpus of the complete tales by Unamuno, task that has not been yet accomplished by the few editions published recently; in addition, we have examined the subgenre of the tale and what did it mean to Unamuno, it is well-known his aversion to any taxonomy, because of that, we accepted as tales works that traditionally have not been classified under this subgenre. The analysis of the tales has not only been carried from the aesthetic perspective, but considering Unamuno’s philosophy, an extremely necessary frame of reference in the case of that writer, without it we could not accomplish a valid study. In that way, we have been compelled to research the poetics of Miguel de Unamuno, the guide have been his main essays, as the press articles that he published periodically in many weekly publications. We could conclude that the brief genre was not a simple entertainment to Unamuno, a job to support his family or a way to make himself omnipresent in the social and political Spanish and Hispanic American scene, it was all that and even more. Tales were a media to spread his worries, concerns, ideas and aesthetics, in addition this genre contribute and complemented his style, which progressively turned more fragmentary, it was also an excellent pulpit to address to his reader, to achieve the intrahistoric immortality, to break absolutely all conventionalisms and literary decorum.
