Abstract

We can define economics as the science which studies the rational manner of achieving a specific objective, often with limited resources. The current global economic crisis dates back to 2007. Since the start of the crisis we have been bombarded with economic terminology describing its evolution, in the press, television, web pages and the reports issued by banks and institutions. Economic science has its own language and many of its concepts are hard for the lay person to understand, since they are usually expressed in the vocabulary of the day life but with specific meanings. This study is an attempt to understand the problems created by the crisis, its main causes, its historical roots, and its language. Above all we are interested in the mathematical modeling of the problems and in the tools for resolving them.
