[spa] El presente trabajo es una aproximación al fenómeno de la migración por estilo de vida a través del estudio de un caso en Puerto Viejo, pueblo situado en el Caribe Sur de Costa Rica. Se trata de una investigación etnográfica construida a través de observación participante y de relatos biográficos de migrantes españoles residentes en Puerto Viejo. En el artículo se analizan las motivaciones individuales que los llevaron a migrar desde un contexto urbano en España a uno rural en Costa Rica, así como sus discursos y prácticas sociales. Asimismo, se pone énfasis en algunos rasgos que caracterizan el proceso de individualización de esta forma de migración, entre los que destaca la elección de un estilo de vida, el activismo político y la coexistencia del privilegio y la vulnerabilidad.
[eng] This article approaches the phenomenon of lifestyle migration through a case study in Puerto Viejo, a village located in the Southern Caribbean region of Costa Rica. Through ethnographic techniques, such as participant observation and biographical interviews, the research analyzes the individual motivations that lead the participants to migrate from an urban context in Spain to a rural life in Costa Rica, as well as their discourses and social practices. Likewise, emphasis is placed in some of the features that define the process of individualization of this form of migration highlighting the choice of a lifestyle, political activism and the coexistence of privilege and vulnerability.
