El desenvolupament de la xarxa ferroviària espanyola (1848 – 1866)

Abstract

This article analyses the development of the Spanish railway network from its very beginning until 1966’s financial crisis, taking into consideration the challenges it faced, its particularities, i.e. different track gauge or the radial network, and the impact it had on the Spanish economy. In particular, the article aims at being a state of the art. Thus, it focuses on the different views that the most controversial topics related to the railway have raised, paying special attention to the literature produced since 2001, when the last state of the art about railways in Spain was published.
