Abstract

Hasta hoy, las teorías sobre cine, en su conjunto, han otorgado al sonido un papel secundario. Las películas, sin embargo, desde sus modestos inicios con el ruido del proyector de fondo, han estado acompañadas de sonido. Esto es un hecho que nos indica que el cine no se dirige solo a la vista, sino que requieren en sus espectadores una actitud perceptiva formada por los dos sentidos. No obstante seguimos refiriéndonos a ello como “ver” una película, ignorando la sonoridad que la acompaña. Este proyecto persigue el propósito de investigar sobre el metalenguaje del cine, concretamente la dicotomía Imagen/sonido, y mostrar cómo el paso del cine analógico hacia al digital ha cambiado uno de los sonidos más arraigados y propios de la experiencia cinematográfica (el de la maquinaria que lo permite). Para conseguirlo es necesario tratar asuntos como la estructura interna de este medio y sus concepciones más arraigadas. Mostrando así cómo esta construcción conlleva la creación de esquemas y metodologías de producción convencionales. Una vez hecho esto se aplicaran las estructuras o sus fisuras para producir un tipo de escena diferente. Creando una obra que explora el metalenguaje del cine y transmita al espectador la importancia del sonido en la experiencia cinematográfica.

Up to the date, theories about cinema have given a secondary role to the sound. Nevertheless, films, since their modest beginning with the background noise of the projector have been accompanied by sound. This is a fact that shows how cinema isn’t only meant for our sight, because it requires from us an attitude of both seeing and listening. However, we keep using the expression “to watch a movie”, ignoring the sound that goes hand in hand with the movies. This project intends to research about the metalanguage of cinema, especially the dichotomy between image, and to show how the evolution from analog film to the digital film has changed one of the most particular sounds of the cinematographic experience (the sound of the machine that allows this experience). In order to achieve it it is needed to talk about issues as the internal structure of this medium and its most ingrained conceptions, showing to the reader how these constructions involve the making of conventional production methods. Once this is done, these structures and its fissures will be applied in order to produce a different kind of scene, creating a work that explores the metalanguage of cinema and conveys to the spectator the relevance of the sound in the cinematographic experience.
