A principios del siglo XX surge un género literario denominado distópico con
autores que recrean universos perversos, dañinos para el individuo. Tras la
Segunda Guerra Mundial, Europa se revela como una utopía fallida, degenerada,
una realidad distópica en la que el individuo se encuentra aislado y oprimido por
los gobiernos totalitarios. En este contexto, en el teatro europeo encontramos
una serie de obras que recrean universos distópicos fruto de la experiencia de la
guerra y la posguerra que exploran los efectos que ambas tuvieron sobre el
sujeto.
In the early 20th century, a new literary genre called dystopian emerged. These authors depicted perverse, damaging universes for the individual. After the Second World War, Europe is revealed as a failed, degenerated utopia, a dystopian reality in which the individual is isolated and oppressed by totalitarian governments. In this context, in the European theatre we find some works that portray dystopian universes as a result of the war and postwar period, which explore the effect that both had on the subject.
