Abstract
The porn and prostitution industries share economic goals and strategies aimed at capturing a new generation of consumers—especially boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 12, when empathy is still developing. Mireia Iglesias (adolescent), Carmen Candial (sociologist and expert in pornography), and Esther Luna (project coordinator, UB) explain how pornography conveys messages that link pleasure with violence, making it seem as if this empowers women. Platforms like PornHub or OnlyFans contribute to the normalization of digital prostitution and the exploitation of adolescents. Phenomena such as “sexting” and Sugar Daddies reflect this imbalance of power. In light of this, it is essential to speak about sexuality with openness, accurate information, and values rooted in respect and equality.
