Abstract
Este trabajo se propone hacer una aproximación a la circulación y presencia de libros en lengua
inglesa en la España del siglo XVIII a través del estudio de librerías y bibliotecas de este período y
el análisis de dos casos concretos: los libros en lengua inglesa del cirujano y médico Antonio de
Gimbernat y los de la Biblioteca Mariana del Convento de San Francisco de Barcelona que se
conservan en el CRAI Biblioteca de Reserva de la Universidad de Barcelona.
This dissertation studies the circulation of books in English in 18th century Spain through a study of bookshops and libraries from this period and a detailed analysis of two main cases: the English books in the library of the Spanish doctor and surgeon Antonio de Gimbernat and the conventual library “Biblioteca Mariana del Convento de San Francisco de Barcelona” held by the Rare Book and Manuscript CRAI Library at the University of Barcelona.
