[cat] La Sentència Arbitral de Guadalupe és considerada per la historiografia recent com la resolució al conflicte viscut al camp català principalment durant el segle XV a l’entorn dels drets i deures de la pagesia servil catalana, anomenada «de remença», a partir del nom que portava la clàusula d’alliberament del seu estat servil. Aquesta, a més de pagar les exaccions pròpies la resta de la pagesia, també ho havia de fer pels anomenats sis mals usos, unes imposicions dirigides a controlar la seva llibertat personal i a mantenir la seva productivitat al camp. El conflicte es desenvoluparia tant en l’àmbit jurídic com bèl·lic, i enfrontaria la pagesia amb la noblesa en un context de disputes paral·lels entre aquesta i la Corona.
[eng] The Sentència Arbitral de Guadalupe is considered by the recent historiography as the resolution to the conflict that developed mainly during the XVth century in the Catalan rural areas, involving the rights and duties of the peasant serfs known as “remences” as this was the name of the tax they had to pay in order the free themselves. Those serfs, not only were subject to the general tax system, but also to the so-called “mals usos” (bad practices), six different rules that implied charging the peasants with monetary payments, and meant to control their personal freedom and keep their productivity as farmers. The conflict would be both legal and violent, and confronted the peasantry with the nobility in the context of internal strife between the same nobility and the crown.
