Resum

[eng] INTRODUCTION: The hindfoot is the most posterior part of the foot, composed of two unique bones, the talus and calcaneus, which connect the ankle with the midfoot to the Chopart joint. This area was thought to be unsuitable for endoscopic procedures, as the anatomical structures are very small, as well as concerns related to the surrounding neurovascular structures. It is essential to deepen the scientific evidence for the use of endoscopic techniques for common backfoot pathology such as talocalcaneal coalitions (CBT) and progressively collapsing foot deformity (PCFD), as there is a clear paucity of high-quality literature evaluating the results of endoscopic techniques when treating these common disorders. This thesis is the product of our research on the clinical and radiographic results of endoscopic techniques for hindfoot pathology. HYPOTHESIS: Our working hypothesis is that endoscopic techniques can be simultaneously safe and effective in both the diagnosis and treatment of common hindfoot pathology, either in isolation or in combination with open surgery. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this doctoral thesis is to demonstrate how endoscopic techniques can be beneficial when treating the predominant pathology of the hindfoot. Consequently, we set out to determine the clinical and radiographic outcomes of posterior arthroscopic subtalar arthrodesis (PASTA) for adult patients presenting with symptomatic medial facet CBT and normal alignment of the back of the foot. We also wanted to define the clinical and radiographic results of combined PTT tendoscopy and mediating calcaneal osteotomy (MCO) for symptomatic patients presenting with stage IA PCFD.
