dc.description.abstract[eng] The 29 ceramic amphorae, studied in this project were recovered in the Iberian settlement of Vilar in Valls, Tarragonés, Catalonia, Spain. These ceramics, dated to the late 3rd century BCE, belong to a historical period related to interactions between Iberian, Roman, and Carthaginian peoples, and the eventual emergence of the Second Punic War (218 BCE). This research aims to better the understanding of trade at this time, by identifying the provenance of these ceramics as well as traces of manufacturing techniques such as estimated firing temperatures (EFT). For this purpose, the reconstructed amphorae have been digitalized, and samples chemically and mineralogically characterized by wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRFand Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), respectively, as well as observed under stereomicroscopy. Results confirm known distribution patterns of imported wares, and the evidence of similar technical traditions in different workshops. Finally, the contrast with the database enables us to relate some of the individuals analyzed in this study to some others from the same area, namely the workshop of Fontscaldes and workshops in Pontons, Alt Penedès.
