dc.description.abstract[en] In this project we introduce the theory of knots and specialize in the computation of the knot polynomials. After presenting the Jones polynomial, its two two-variable generalizations are also introduced: the Kauffman and HOMFLY polynomial. Then we study the ability of these polynomials on detecting chirality, obtaining a knot not detected chiral by the HOMFLY polynomial, but detected chiral by the Kauffman polynomial.ca
