El fomento de la inclusión social infantil a través de los lenguajes artísticos(Sociedad Iberoamericana de Pedagogía Social, 2017-01) Mundet Bolós, Anna; Fuentes-Peláez, Núria; Pastor Vicente, CrescenciaLa investigación que se presenta es fruto de un estudio cualitativo que pretende escuchar las voces y las opiniones de los profesionales que trabajan en los Centros Abiertos (espacios de Atención Primaria de Servicios Sociales en Cataluña) acerca de las potencialidades de los lenguajes artísticos como estrategias para promover el bienestar de los niños y niñas que a ellos acuden. En el estudio han participado 97 profesionales de los centros abiertos de Cataluña. Los resultados permiten evidenciar y constatar la necesidad de fomentar el trabajo emocional y social y las potencialidades que los lenguajes artísticos tienen con colectivos vulnerables. Entre ellos, destacamos la infancia en riesgo que acude a los Centros Abiertos.Article
Assessment in kinship foster care: A new tool to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses(MDPI, 2015) Fuentes-Peláez, Núria; Amorós, Pere; Pastor Vicente, Crescencia; Molina, M. Cruz (María Cruz); Mateo Gomà, María IsabelPlacement in kinship family has existed informally throughout the times. There are many countries in which the kinship family care is the measure most used for child protection. However, it is a subject of continuous debate. One of the major issues it is the constitution of the foster care without the evaluation of the family, and often the child is placed directly to grandparents and uncles by the mere fact of being direct family. The article presents a tool to evaluate extended families in order to assure the welfare of the child. The tool was built by a cooperative research where 126 professionals from 7 regions of Spain participated. The instrument can identify the strengths and weaknesses of families on 6 domains: personal characteristics, the coverage of basic needs, the collaboration with professionals, the family structure and dynamics, the relationship between family, child and biological family and, finally the attitude towards the placement. The tool is innovative while providing elements to work more effectively and introduces the opportunity to reflect upon the skills of the kinship foster care family, the needs of support, and the families that are unfitting to take care of the child. To conclude, the instrument tries to overcome one of the principal disadvantages of kinship foster care: the lack of knowledge about the kinship family.Article
PROGRAMA GENER@T: Social Educational Programme for the Prevention of Dating Violence among Adolescents(Universitatea 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza', 2013-07-01) Mateos Inchaurrondo, Ainoa; Amorós, Pere; Pastor Vicente, Crescencia; Cojocaru, DanielaThe social educational program presented in this article, GENER@T, has been designed and developed as a response to the needs found in the diagnostic multimethod study descriptive which was carried out between 2008 and 2011. 701 adolescents from 5 State secondary schools in different parts of Spain took part in the study. The aim of the diagnosis was to detect social educational needs about gender based violence in adolescents of between 12 and 14. The program presented is innovative in the prevention of gender based violence in two ways: firstly it aims to anticipate the first dating relationships, aiming the intervention at the pre-adolescent stage and secondly the 24 sessions which make up the program means it can be applied transversally as an "optative subject" in a formal educational field or as a workshop in a non- formal educational field. The program "GENER@-T" consists of three parts: the first part is a presentation of its characteristics, the second part is a theoretic guide which records a summary of the content needed to carry out the sessions and the third part is a description of the activities, their objectives, content, techniques and resources needed.Article
'They didn't tell me anything; they just sent me home': children's participation in the return home(John Wiley & Sons, 2016) Mateos Inchaurrondo, Ainoa; Vaquero Tió, Eduard; Balsells, M. Àngels; Ponce, CarmenThe reality of child protection systems typically demonstrates a lack of attention to the voices of children. There are studies that confirm this fact and offer evidence of the benefits of participation, but gaps remain regarding the elements and processes that favour it. This qualitative study attempts to contribute to knowledge in this area through a detailed analysis of the perspectives of the actors involved and the role that children play in the return home. This article analyses the elements involved in the participation of the children when a return home is proposed after a period of family or residential foster care. As part of the study, 18 semi-structured interviews were conducted and 22 discussion groups were created with a total of 135 participants (63 child protection services workers, 42 parents and 30 children and adolescents). The data were analysed using a content analysis process and underwent a peer review process in Atlas.ti. The results indicate that the participation of children and adolescents in the return home centres around (i) understanding the return home, (ii) strategies and emotional processes and (iii) social support.Article

Validación de un instrumento en español para medir habilidades parentales promovidas en una intervención de educación parental(ICE Universitat de Barcelona, 2016-06) Vázquez Álvarez, Noelia; Molina, M. Cruz (María Cruz); Ramos, Pilar; Artazcoz Lazcano, Lucía, 1963-Las intervenciones promotoras de habilidades parentales son efectivas en el desarrollo del bienestar infantil y parental. En España, este tipo de intervenciones son frecuentes, pero no existen instrumentos validados para medir las habilidades parentales que permitan evaluarlas. Este estudio presenta la validación de un instrumento para medir habilidades parentales creado a partir de un cuestionario de 43 ítems y 6 dimensiones y utilizado en el marco de un programa de educación parental en varios territorios de España. Se ha recogido información cualitativa de 44 profesionales expertos y datos cuantitativos de 84 padres/madres participantes de un programa de apoyo parental. Este proceso ha permitido reducir y adaptar el cuestionario inicial a una nueva versión con 19 ítems, pilotado por 10 familias y 12 profesionales. Los resultados indican que la nueva versión del cuestionario recoge las dimensiones básicas de habilidades parentales, con un lenguaje comprensible y muestra unas propiedades psicométricas adecuadas (α entre 0,71 en subescala 2 y 0,80 en subescala 5; todos los ítems tienen un peso r > 0,40 en el primer factor, y la variancia total para los factores extraídos es superior al 50 %).Article
Impact of the 'Learning Together, Growing in Family' Programme on the Professionals and Attention to Families Services(Universitatea 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza', 2013-08-20) Rodrigo, María José; Martín, Juan Carlos; Mateos Inchaurrondo, Ainoa; Pastor Vicente, Crescencia; Guerra, MónicaThe group programmes of parental education are important in the intervention with families in situations of psychosocial risk in order to promote parental competences and the positive development of the children. These programmes must be sustainable in time, which requires the professionals to valuate positively the introduction of this type programme in the service. The aim of this study is to discover the changes in the professional development and the service reported by the facilitators of the groups after the implementation of the "Learning together, growing in family" programme. Taking part were 138 facilitators and 53 collaborating bodies of CaixaProinfancia who have attended to 1,270 families (609 parents and 661 children) in 12 Spanish cities. The programme contains 14 weekly sessions directed at parents and children separately and both groups together. Following a quantitative and qualitative methodology, the results indicate that after the application of the programme the animators considered most competent in the interaction with the families, in the organisation of the work, in the coordination of the programme with other services and in the relation with other professionals. These changes are modulated by age, qualification and years of experience in group dynamics. In the results of the focus groups we see that the facilitators have used many skills in attracting the participants, in the rigorous evaluation of the programme, the suitable development of the sessions and they have very positively valued the impact of the programme on the families and on their professional development.Article
Child Welfare and Successful Reunification: Understanding of the Family Difficulties During the Socio-Educative Process(Universitatea 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza', 2013-09-01) Balsells, M. Cruz (María Cruz); Fuentes-Peláez, Núria; Vaquero Tió, Eduard; Mundet Bolós, AnnaFamily reunification, in terms of the system of infancy protection, is the process by which a child returns to his/her biological family after a period of temporary foster care. The scientific literature and the new social policies share the understanding that socio-educative action with the biological family is an essential requisite for family reunion. Despite this agreement, socio-educative processes during family reunification have received little attention up till now. This paper presents the results of an investigation conducted by the GRISIJ group concerning one of the most important elements in the process of reunification: the ability to gain understanding into a family's difficulty, which is known as "insight". This investigation collects information from 135 people, 62 of which are child welfare professionals in the Spanish territory, 42 are fathers and mothers who have experienced a process of reunification and 30 are children and adolescents who have been through a foster care situation; all distributed in 13 focus groups and 20 interviews. Qualitative results have been analysed using the technique of analysis of content. The results show a gradual process for the acquisition.Article

Cruz (María Cruz); Jané, Mireia; Martínez Bueno, CristinaThis article presents the most important findings concerning the socialeducational needs as expressed by adolescents in kinship foster care (KFC) in the study carried out I+D SEJ-026575 in Spain between 2005 and 2008. The data for the study was collected from discussion groups with adolescents in kinship foster care AFE (n=57) from different autonomous communities in Spain. In the needs assessment the data was collected in the following categories: characteristics of Foster care in kinship family; family history; foster family and foster child; biological family and foster child; self-awareness; healthy family life; free time; the future after fostering. In the results found the following needs stand out: emotional family stability; overcoming problems related to the generation gap with the Foster family, greater openness and clarity dealing with family history, establishing norms and limits, increasing the frequency and quality of parents visits, finding ways of aiding relationships between the foster family and the biological parents, providing support and resources to the foster family, affronting in an educational way subjects such as sexuality, drug addiction, pro-social activities and lastly preparation to face the future after foster care. Incorporating these elements in the support programme for adolescents in KFC can contribute in a positive way to the cognitive, emotional and behavioral development of these adolescents.Article
Implementation and Evaluation of the "Learning Together, Growing In Family Programme": The Impact on the Families(Universitatea 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza', 2013-09) Amorós, Pere; Balsells, M. Àngels; Buisan, Montserrat; Byrne, Sonia; Fuentes-Peláez, NúriaThe article looks at the characteristics of the programme and its application and evaluation. We have chosen a mixed methodological focus that is characterised by a research process that collects analyses and links quantitative and qualitative data, as well as its integration and joint discussion, to achieve a greater understanding of the phenomenon under study. The application has been under- taken with 1,834 people of whom 1,270 have undertaken the programme (609 parents and 661 children), and 564 (296 parents and 268 children) formed part of the control group. The results show that after the programme the strict (authoritarian) style, permissive style, criticism and rejection have decreased and paren- tal affection and communication have increased. There has been an increase in leisure activities undertaken in the family, both in everyday and special activities, satisfaction with family life has improved and there has been greater community integration along with learning processes of an emotional, behavioural and cog- nitive nature. We describe proposals for change to improve the efficiency of the programme by means of going deeper into the subject matter of the programme and the creation of reference bodies to establish networking with the small entities, attending to the largest number of families possible within the characteristics of the programme.Article

Needs analysis for a parental guidance program for biological family: Spain's current situation(Universitatea 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza', 2011) Balsells, M. In this paper the results related to the biological family, the risk and protection factors and its needs of socio-educative support are presented. They are the result of two5 consecutive studies carried out by the GRISIJ6 in which the educative needs with regard to Kinship foster care are analysed. The research compiles the information of 145 professionals of child protection in the Spanish territory distributed in 20 discussion groups. The qualitative results have been analysed by means of the content analysis technique. The results show the factors that can be favourable in a process of reunification of the child and of support. To highlight: a) the quality and frequency of visits and meetings; b) the quality of the relationship between the foster family and the biological family; c) the relationship between the biological family and the fostered child - affective bonds -: d) the reunification factors - involvement in the parental role and in motivation; e) the socio-educative support and the official and non-official resources, and f) the biological families' guidance needs..Article

Aproximación a los factores explicativos del desistimiento en jóvenes infractores(Fundació Pere Tarrés, 2014) Blasco Romera, Cristina; Fuentes-Peláez, Núria; Pastor Vicente, CrescenciaL'article té per objectiu explorar quins factors esdevenen rellevants per al cessament de la conducta delictiva en menors i joves infractors,relacionant dos conceptes que malgrat que provenen d'àmbits disciplinaris diferents, el desistiment i la resiliència, tenen força elements en comú. En l'estudi participen un total de 110 joves de la província de Barcelona entre 14 i 17 anys que es troben pendent d'inici, en execució o han finalitzat un programa socioeducatiu (mediació, medi obert o internament) en l'àmbit de la justícia juvenil. S'utilitza un qüestionari i una fitxa per recollir informació de les bases de dades del Departament de Justícia de la Generalitat de Catalunya. Els principals resultats indiquen que un passat advers no dificulta el desistiment, i que l'acció de factors de protecció contextuals i individuals fa minvar el risc de reincidència.Article

Cruz (María Cruz); Fuentes-Peláez, Núria; Pastor Vicente, Crescencia; Amorós, PereLa educación afectiva y sexual de los y las jóvenes en situación de riesgo social es un elemento esencial para su salud. La educación en esta área requiere unos planteamientos rigurosos que se basen en las necesidades educativas y diferenciales de este colectivo en relación a la salud afectiva y sexual. El presente artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación que analiza estas necesidades. Para ello, se diseñó una investigación acción participativa de carácter cualitativa, en la cual participaron 48 profesionales y 72 jóvenes. La recogida de información se realizó mediante grupos de discusión. Los resultados constatan que el factor cultural y la historia personal y familiar son variables que tienen un carácter concluyente en los comportamientos sexuales de este colectivo. Estas variables deben considerarse, tanto en la educación formal como en la no formal, con tal de promover la salud afectiva sexual, haciendo especial hincapié en los aspectos emocionales, afectivos y sociales.Article

Àngels; Violant, VerónicaBackground: Previous studies emphasise the importance of the biological family to the welfare of fostered adolescents. However, the majority of these studies only take into consideration the viewpoints of the professionals, foster parents and biological parents not those of the adolescents themselves. For this reason little is known about the perceptions the adolescents have and the needs they express. Method: This study has gathered data from 57 adolescents in kinship family fostering in Spain (AFE). The study applied qualitative reseach, using focus groups to gather data and the Atlas.ti programme to analyse the data. The qualitative data give us a more profound understanding of how the fostered adolescents relate to their biological families. Results: The results highlight the specific needs of these adolescents a) an understanding of their family history b) the impact of visits from and relationship with their biological family and c) the relationship between the biological family and the foster family. Conclusions: These findings reveal implications to consider when creating support programmes aimed at this group.Article

La promoció de la salut ha d"anar dirigida a capacitar la població immigrant per gestionar la seva salut, amb la finalitat de reduir les desigualtats en salut com a conseqüència de les discriminacions per raons ètniques o culturals. Des de l"educació, s"han d"aplicar estratègies per millorar la salut física i emocional que augmenti el benestar i la qualitat de vida de tota la societat, bo i incorporant actituds d"empatia i transformant les percepcions negatives en mirades positives envers la diversitat cultural, com un fet que ens enriqueix i amb el que hem de viure i conviure.Article

Continuem presentant a les famílies multiculturals que s'han format a partir de l'adopció i de l'acolliment i analitzant alguns dels grans interrogants que plantejen aquestes pràctiques socioeducatives per a que aquestes famílies puguin atendre a les necessitats dels nens i nenes i formin ciutadans i ciutadanes capaços de conviure en una societat plural.
